mmm, speculation is all very well, but when its not backed up with evidence, it remains just that, speculation, someones opinion of what might be happening or has happened. Unfortunately, from what I've seen on CZ, many people do not know the difference between speculation and fact, so the speculation can cause a great deal of fear mongering.
I always think it best to qualify a speculative statement with an indication that this is what it as, perhaps something like, IMO, or "in the opinion of the author", this latter one is useful if you are repeating the opinion of another person.
