Why not one time dose of valbazen?

I have been doing lots of reading and can't find reasoning on why humans are treated for several days and animals are treated with a one time dose of valbazen (with follow up treatment). Dosing is based on animal weight.
Why are some parasites treated with twice a day dosing for a week or two, then rest a week, etc? Tweet
