Cortisol leads to an increase in copper levels.  But excess copper leads to a decline of cortisol.  So if you had copper toxicity you would not have excess cortisol levels.

I thought copper stimulates the adrenals to produce cortisol hence those people with high cortisol levels also tend to be copper/estrogen dominant. Are you saying copper toxicity/overload leads to low cortisol levels?
