I have been balm free for just over 2 months. I am doing many of the same things as you are. I am also listening to and following guided imagery cd's to help redirect my energey away from frustration and the fear that EC will be a lifelong battle toward healing. This has really helped my overall outlook. I have also found avoiding wheat and dairy products to be a very good idea.
My lips are far from healed and the process is indeed very slow. However, I can feel deep inside that each day brings me closer to being completely healed. The peeling cycle continues to occur regularly, but the skin is thinner and takes up less and less surface of my lip. Also, the pain and discomfort is far less noticable than it was during my "balm-using days." Thus, I remain confident that we and other non-balm using sufferers are on the best road to recovery.
