I having been reading about fasting for years, and have been taking them as well. In the past I usually fasted once a year for one week. Now, having had more interest in natural and healthy living I plan on a 21 day fast after New Year's. IMHO, water fasting is a real fast. It is the most basic and recommended but some people say that you should drink juice during a fast b/c it pushes out the toxins that are coming out of your body when you fast. I prefer the water fast, b/c (and I have tried it)when I drink juice during a fast it makes me eat food. I guess b/c the sugar stimulates my appetite or something.
BTW, the orange juice fast is probably an excellent fast. I understand you squeeze the oranges, and drink the fresh orange juice. It does seem time consuming, but...you can modify it by buying fresh organic orange juice and bypass the squeezing! You have to change things a little sometimes depending on your time availability, lifestyle, and preferences. I, myself, follow MH's instructions to the letter, unless one of the three things stated compels me to make minor changes.
MH has a lot of good advice. The fruit thing didn't work for you, but you have to be well enough to do certain things. If your intestines are in really bad shape you don't want to do anything too extreme. Attaining good health is a progress b/c we have spent years(decades!)of eating the wrong foods, taking medications, and adding other toxins to our bodies.
I would suggest you not only continue to read this forum(it really does have a lot of good info) but go to the cleansing forums such as the bowel cleanse and liver flush as well. It's IMPORTANT to do things in order when it comes to getting well naturally. For instance, before you do a LF/KF it is recommended that your bowels are moving well b/c the toxins that the LF will expel need to be moving out, otherwise you will autointoxicate yourself.
