This is just an opinion, but when a person starts out giving themselves an enema they normally have to start out slowly. Three quarts to start with is probably too much. It takes awhile for your colon to expand. Also the 80 degree temperature was probably a shock to your body. I would guess that the pain you experienced was probably a cramp. Usually the cramp will go away with massaging the area. I would suggest that you try the enema again with a slightly higher temperature say like 90 degrees. I have read that it is important that it stay below normal body temperature. Also I would suggest that you start out with distilled water with nothing added. I hope this helps.
