Straight Bicarb is not the right way at all. It is depleting and will create imbalance. One needs a balanced base powder that has other synergists to make it work.
However, the Europeans have been using Enderlein's remedies for a very long time now. They use sodium bicarb because it is the bodies most essential and fundamental form of balancing acid. However, they also blend it with celtic sea salt potassium chloride to provide chloride to help regenerate the the stomach acidity. (obviously, the hydrogen part of the HCL is not very hard to obtain in an acidic person)
The other key is to take the base powder between meals.
Often the stomach produces excess acid so that it can produce base (the concept of base tide)! This seems counterintuitive to most, it is all explained very well here:
The blend actually improves HCL digestion over time!
