I am positive that EC is eczema, when I went to the 2 best dermatologists in Minnesota 10 years ago at the U of M and the Mayo Clinic they both told me you have Exfoliative Cheilitis which is Eczema of the lips, also my current dermatologists 2 of them told me the same thing. The problem is, the eczema that we have on our lips is pretty much resistant to normal treatment for some reason, which is quite obvious, some people are helped with cortisone, most are not. I have used various eczema treatments which some of them helped for a short time and then quit working. Eczema is swollen, red, severly dry skin which can crack and bleed and get secondary infections, also eczema is basically a chronic condition unless you can figure out the cause, for most people eczema can be controlled, but not cured. If you have truly been diagnosed with EC then you have eczema on your lips. If you have Psoriasis or something else which is very rare then you do not have EC.
