Hey dpp, I just wanted to say thank you for your post and your efforts to figure out how you got EC and why the repair may take so long. It actually kind of aligns with my site, however I use more general words, it appears our thoughts are on the same wavelegnth. It took a lot of though about the cellular level and how it actually heals to come up with the leave it alone theory, and that it can take years.

I really liked the part where you wrote: "Therefore the lips are in a continual repair process with no reference point to being healed or progressing, or damage." That is the one word I haven't been able to come up with, as I could see it in my mind, just not describe it, so thank you! I had used terms like the nearby cells act like the cells directly next to them, which causes EC to spread.

That's why my inner lips haven't healed yet on my bottom lip. The EC has to heal from the outside in (which is what it's doing) and it's "reference point" is the healthy skin directly outside.
