Been through flax oil too.
flax oil is cheap, and it is a good reason for its long time use in paint. Try to heat it up in a pan, then leave it on a plate for a day or two with plenty of oxygen and light. (similar to what would happen in the body, just speeded up with the heat)
It will then have the texture as paint, and the smell is not pleasant, to say it the least.
Same happens with rapeseed oil.
If one wants to need glasses this is the best way to do it, as the eye vessels.
If to flax, use the seeds, as it has the anti oxidants and the protection of the shell.
-But I always keep in mind that the wild birds and animals never touch the flax-seeds; tried many times; even in the coldest winters up here, with little food available they never touch linseed.
