This is very interesting Seb. Thank you for sharing and I truly hope you get cured. Although I don't think Staph is the cause of this (for me anyway), I find it very interesting that your patch testing confirmed an allergy to benzoates because sodium benzoate was the ingredient my derm linked to my oral care products and told me to avoid. As of now, I've been avoiding them for just over two months while applying protopic twice a day and vaseline and have been seeing a reduction in inflammation (which is what would cause your lip to look everted). It will be very interesting to see if you get cured. I still strongly believe this is an allergic reaction for a good number of us (maybe not all of us).
