Re: Chronic fatigue and liver flukes - help needed

Doesnt look like flukes I have seen. But...flukes do lay eggs, thousands every 24 hrs. The eggs are excreted out the ducts and end up in our poop. They can be tested and confirmed, but usually only after previous tests (CT, Ultrasound) lead that way and the infestation is advanced. Did you eat lots of raw fresh fish in Australia? Still? Australia is not known as high risk for liver flukes, unless you went fishing in the Outback and ate all your catch raw? You eat Sushi? You can do a screening test such as a stool ova test if you can find a Dr/lab to go along (good luck with that...). The high risk groups for liver fluke infection are usually those who had a history of eating a significant amount of raw, freshwater fish in endemic areas (like China/Taiwan/Korea) and those who have ultrasound or CT images showing dilatation of the peripheral bile ducts. Flukes can live 30+ years, usually causing little harm, but some feel that long term flukes can lead to cancer at worst and chronic illness at best. I think they are not as common as some think, everyone on this site seems to feel they have flukes, yet the rate of infection in most countries is very very low.
