yes, that may be the most maddening thing for me. I am not able to smell my own odor, but can smell any bad/good odor, you say, foods, fragrances, garbage, etc -within the range of normal perceptions as any other 'normal' guys out there. Aside from some extreme situations, I only smell the residue of deodorants in my worn clothes
We should have been soooooo accustomed to our own odor that, I think, we stop to perceive and differentiate it or take it normal. My own living like an hermit, probably won't help the situation, too. (most smokers are in the same situation, in which non-smokers are irritated with the cigarette odor while smokers not even aware of it)
But, generally, when I get too closer to other people, less than 1 meter perhaps, I get a bad odor as if the smelling one is not me but the other one directly in front of my face. There was an interesting post around the web conforming a similar experience. But, contrary to the first guest, I think it is not a bad breath issue, rather Body Odor .
