Re: Need Advice

Without a doubt Iodine unleashes surprises. :) It's a wonder that a body can survive so long with so little of it and WAY too much bromine/fluoride. No doubt the body compensates in innumerable ways. However when you upset this homeostasis by adding Iodine and kicking out the other guys the body "freaks out". But then it begins to understand and eventually a new norm, *the correct one*, is established.

Having said all this, I am not as brave as you. When I experience something unpleasant I want to focus on it and make sure in my mind it is indeed a detox reaction versus something gone bad. First there was the kidney pains, which really got bad. But then those faded. Then there is the eyelid twitching, which I still have (..but dying off). The latest, and most unsettling, was having a funky epiglottis. Having a pain in one throat and discomfort when swallowing is unsettling, for me at least. But laying off Iodine for two days cleared it up, so obviously it was just a transient side effect to iodine supplementation ( others have reported).

So I can deal with side effects one by one. However it sounds like if one takes giant doses of iodine/iodide the side effects can come crashing down in a flurry. Of course the big advantage: you attain iodine sufficiency MUCH more quickly.

I plan to up my dosage in a few weeks. I am in no great rush. I'm thrilled to no end for what iodine has done for me so far. I'll enjoy the slow ride and soak up the scenery. :)
