Re: Lyme or Mercury/Heavy Metal Toxicity?

RandomGirl, I don't recall you describing symptoms of MCS but be careful with "kidney cleanses". Your liver and kidneys are not pipes that need to be scrubbed clean. HMs mess up various chemical pathways (chemical reactions). Your body may not be able to get rid of some of the resulting chemicals as robustly as normal people can.

Some of us who have high cadmium get lower abdominal pain when we kick up the Cd without careful planning. Cd can get stuck in the kidneys if not chelated carefully. I am one. This Curezone member may be another.

Btw. He was not actually doing Cutler's protocol because he was skipping night doses. Cutler warns that people with mood symptoms may get a worsening of symptoms when they skip doses. I fear we lost this member when she stopped taking night doses.

I'm not trying to frighten you from doing detox! However, in my 3.5 yrs in the detox groups there have been many wonderfully encouraging reports along with many reports from those who made mistakes along the way. Sadly many of the mistakes were made by people who were doing what a doctor told them to do. Detox for long-term (chronic) Hg exposure does not have standard procedures/protocols that doctors were taught in med school. This a new area of medicine. Detox protocols designed for otherwise healthy men who were exposed to Hg in a chemical factory accident don't usually work so well for chronically sick people. Such people usually need a more gentle approach.

You are wise to discuss the options and proceed carefully. I discussed the issue with my functional medicine doctor. I chose against the IV and infrequent dose oral methods that he uses. He was not opposed to Cutler's protocol although he thought it was unnecessarily conservative.
