Growing Wheatgrass and Recipe

Hi Friends,

I am looking for those who have had experience growing wheatgrass in various mediums and conditions; indoors and out. I have tried several methods, including hydroponically. Recently I have found the best method to be NOT soaking the seeds first, but planting a cup of seeds directly into a mixture of organic soil and sphagnum moss, about an inch deep. They grow thick and quickly, and they grow best if they have lots of soil beneath them. There has been little to no mold. I add organic seaweed liquid fertilizer.

I have some questions for anyone in the "know":

1) At what height does the grass begin to lose it's greatest nutrition?

2) How many cuttings should I use before I discard the batch?

3) I'm experimenting switching from the regular black planting trays to deeper rectangular planters. But also want to plant some of the already cut mats (from the trays) in the ground. This causes them to put down deeper roots in the soil which is sandy loam. Would they lose some nutrition if we let it grow like that and it would grow taller and go through several cuttings.

I would like to start fresh with new seeds after a couple of cuttings, but my boyfriend doesn't want to waste anything and wants to keep letting the grass grow and use it over and over.

I say seeds are cheap, plant often.

Hope I've been clear.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
WheatGrassGirl

My favorite recipe in my Omega masticating juicer is:
For 2 people
* 4 apples (Granny Smith tend to mellow the strong grass)
* ginger as strong as you like
* garlic as strong as you like
* 4-5 carrots
* a heaping plate of wheatgrass
drink with a straw
