I did the Lam protocol. It worked really great for me first 3/4 year. At this point I hit the ceiling and started to look around.
I found Danny Roddy blog and his book "Hair like a fox" with lots of references to Ray peat. (also www.peatarian.www. and another ray peat forum).
After reading this article, I added honey to my diet and had big metabolic boost, energy, mood, sleep etc...
I also think that it would be beneficial to add thyroid support to his protocol such as Now Foods Thyroid Energy. I also added ZMA 3 times a day 1 pill before meal, not 3 pills before sleep.
Zinc is very important for digestion acidity depends on it. AF people usually have low acidity.
