They are said to be very anti ageing and help the kidneys and liver and the eyes as you mention. Incidentally, Chinese traditional medicine believe that the liver and the eye function are closely related.
I love them and cannot eat enough. I had 5Kg delivered yesterday and have already eaten almost 0.5Kg in less than 24 hours.
The only problem is all the carbs in them. I do intend trying to ferment them as soon as I get a new liquidizer to allow the bacteria easier access to the berries carbs. If the bacteria would consume the carbs leaving the beneficial properties then that would suit me. One problem is that some of the beneficial elements of Goji (Gou Qi Zi) berries are polysaccharides which could get destroyed by bacteria. I will have to try it out and find out whether it works.
