zeiley im 99% sure vaseline has nothing to do with your ec you probably started to apply it because your lips were in a crisis due to early onset of ec.. my situation was the same i never ever applied lip balms or anything and all of a sudden i started to get dry lips really dry lips which i now understood to be due to ec beginning to rear its head it first started just top lip in middle for 1 month then disappeared only to return 6 months later over both lips and has never left. the immune system is producing a inflammatory response for what ever reason. most likely like eczema on peoples hands why does it spread to both hands? its the same as our lips its spreads to both lips.. your a newby luckily for you I'm sure in the next year or so new medications will be available aka biological drugs... most of us have been suffering for years and years.. check out danikis post she's the only one i really believe has there ec under control and in complete re-mission. also find a good quality who takes your ec seriously! also were you in a stressful environment before ec broke out ? cheers! also since your new try find a method to manage it. don't fall for the bs leave it alone theory it doesn't work.
