Yup beets are amazing, especially for the heart( nitrates ) and liver(phase 2 and bile). You should try beet kvass (fermented beet juice). It has all the nitrates and phytonutrients but less Sugar thanks to all the lacto bacteria. It's easy to make especially if you already make sauerkraut. I try to eat/drink something with beets daily. Don't forget the beet greens also, they are packed with nutrients as well. The one thing to be aware of with beets is the oxalate content which can be an issue for some people.
