Can't use sour or sweet things to soften stones. Alternatives?

Hi all. I've done 23 flushes in the last 2 years. I've been seeing a doctor of Tibetan medicine and she advised me to not eat sour things and also be frugal with eating sweet things. Now my problem is that for the preparation of the flush, I usually take ACV for 6 days, or alternately, apple juice.

ACV is very sour, so I cannot take it if I am to take the doctor's advice seriously, which I do want to since she has really helped me. In her understanding, sour things are bad for those with nervous system issues. I have trigeminal neuralgia.

Apple juice is very sweet but that is better than sour for me, so I am taking that, but I find it hard to take so much apple juice - 1 litre a day - because it is so sweet.
Malic acid tablets would also count as sour, even if I am not tasting the sourness on my tongue if they are in capsules.

Any ideas about what else I can do for softening the stones?

Also, a friend suggested that it is debatable whether the stones need softening at all, and the flush probably works as well without the softening. In my experience, even if I've been lethargic about the preparation and not had enough ACV or apple juice in the past, the flush has been as good as other times. I usually expel about 80-100 stones.

What do you think about flushing without the softening?
