In order to be healthy we have to learn that grief is a part of life and learn how to cope and accept it. I look at everything as a living entity-even an emotion or relationship.
I look at food as a relationship that brought me comfort and joy,yet I too,like so many of us, became codependent on it. I have 'divorced that relationship and grieve for its' loss. Fasting brings up past grief that has been swept under the carpet; Guilt,sadness , anger, joy , dispair, all the symptoms of grief. It sucks but the process works.
