I wouldn't blame the MC. The weight gain and then some is usually for those that go back to eating NORMAL!
I am menopausal NOW and I know my metabolism is at a STAND STILL... I passed slow a long time ago!
I cannot work out do to injuries, which puts me at a big disadvantage with that too.
I had to work out all my life from 18 to 49 years old, just to maintain a normal weight. If I went up two dress sizes... I starved myself and worked out three times as hard and lost it again for another few years or more.
Now... I am at a very big disadvantage with the injuries and menopause. However, I do NOT take the hormones that PUT WEIGHT ON YOU...so I AM AWARE OF THIS!
I have resigned myself to do exactly what am doing now... several Lemonades for breakfast and before Lunch... Vegi soup for lunch and another Lemonade or so and several apples and pears throughout the afternoon and eve and an EARLY diner of veggie soup with brown rice. I am adding chicken breasts and fish to my diet this week.
I will never see three meals a day... no matter how healthy they are.
I am now... pre-dispositioned to gain weight and it must be controlled. If the metabolism was so easy to control... someone would be a MILLIONAIRE by now!
Luckily you can still work out, but be careful in thinking you can eat THREE HEALTHY MEALS A DAY and maintain your weight.
If you see the weight creeping back up... cut out something and replace it with a Master-Cleanse Lemonade. I plan on having these even while not on the MC, just to maintain the weight loss. I'm just like Robin Quivers of the Howard Stern Show, she can't eat THREE HEALTHY MEALS a day either and she KNOWS IT!!
Our body is changing and not being KIND to us. It isn't fair that most people (WOMEN) maintain a normal weight all their lives and eat ANYTHING they want ANYTIME they want and NOT gain a pound!
Once your metabolism SCREWS UP... learn to LIVE WITH IT! Just eat Healthy!
You can make up all the excuses in the world on why it happened... but it DID and you need to alter your eating and exercise habits accordingly.
