This strain has recently become available in the US, I don't see any information for Canadian distribution. Speaking from my own experience, the biggest obstacle with candida is re-implanting benefical bacteria in the intestines. It is not easy, a well established candida overgrowth appears to create an enviornment that is very toxic to lactobacteria. I am convenced that the candida population must be reduced through anti-fungals before implantation can be sucessful. I am currently attempting implantation with strains that are reported to be extremely hardy or especially prone towards intestinal wall colonization.
Bifidus regularus (a strain patented by Dannon)
Lactobacillus GC ( sold as Culturelle)
I just purchased the Culturelle. I'll be using it a starter in fermenting yogurt.
L. Reuteri does not appear to be advertised as a particularly hardy or aggresssive strain. I wonder what the odds are for it implanting in the face of a well established candida overgrowth?
