It seems one important liver function is to convert fat-soluble toxins to water-soluble forms, so they can be evacuated in the urine.
Some people seem to believe that urine is some spiritual god-sent thing that is some sort of perfect healing tool... I rather believe that recycling nutrients in urine might be a benefit, yet there are cons too.
Insects can live off feces because it contains a lot of nutrients. Lot of bacterias and yeasts live on our skin. It's just "normal" to lose nutrients.
