Ovaries hurting

My daughter, age 20, has complained in the past about her ovaries hurting about a week before she starts her period. She just called me a few minutes ago, saying the pain is really bad now and suggested a doctor's visit. I'm afraid that the doctor is going to suggest birth control pills and, speaking from past experience, I know how bad those are for your body. She won't go to an acupuncturist or even a naturopath, nor will she do the castor oil pack (which I do on a regular basis for my PCOS). I think she may be open to taking supplements, though. Can you recommend anything? How about evening primrose oil? Would this help?
