There are holes in your response. They had vast wealth in the middle east at one point. They had forests, great crops, water, etc...The garden of Eden was known to have come from that region. They had at one point known the blessings of God. They squandered it. They forgot about God and turned to other gods. They thanked the sun, moon, wind, rain for their wealth. In turn, their land became parched and starved for the very things they were worshipping.
In the 17, 1800s we lived by horse and buggy and oil lamps. We became blessed with this land because of the promise Isreal made to Ephraim and Manasseh saying to each that one would become a "Great Nation" and the other would become a "Company of Nations" That's how we became America and Britain. It was the birthrite of Abraham handed down. Because of our obedience to Christ and his word, he in turned blessed us with knowledge that in no point in history has man been able to achieve. We became knowledgeable in physics and geography, sciences. We discovered new things as new knowledge came about and our societies grew like no other on earth. In just over one hundred years, we went from riding horse and buggy to flying to the moon. Why now? Why not 2000 years ago. It took 5900 years for us to figure it out. The bible says Christ's return will be around the time that knowledge is greatly increased and many shall run to and fro. With the advent of air travel, that is more possible now than at any previous time in history. We are doubling our knowledge every 22 months. Tell me that has nothing to do with a sovereign God who has a destiny and definite plan for mankind. We can now have this debate because of the knowledge that has been opened for us to gain. I just look around at the infrastructure of our cities now and am overwhelmed. None of this was here 100 years ago. The power lines, the water and gas lines, the buildings, the roads, cars, trains, planes etc. Just think about it for a sec. Open your mind and allow yourself to fathom the gift God's given us.
