By Jonathan Edwards excellent!
Something I wrote as ending for a novella someone who thought they could by pass the way of salvation and get to heaven anyway AFTER THEY DIED SUDDENLY. God does not fool around either get with the program or He will take you out.
In what seemed like only a few seconds's after Paul felt his soul being ripped from his body he opens his eyes in death.
His first conscious thought is "there is something wrong," why is it so dark?. He looks around him and sees nothing but the dark, he can feel the dark. Although he now has no body, he can still think and feel. 'This makes no sense he mulls to himself, where is the light and where is Jesus Christ, I thought he was going to meet me here?'
As he try’s to turn his attention to another part of this dark abyss he noticed two shapes approaching him. He feels fear and as they get closer there seems to be a light surrounding them and he feels relief. 'At last," he says, here is what I expected.
The two beings he could tell as they got closer were huge in shape and looked very powerful.
One being stood on each side of him and spoke "We are Angels, and we have come to escort you for the determining of where you will spend eternity." Paul, breathes a sigh of relief, although not understanding how he can breath or was he breathing? Everything was so strange, but he was more than happy to follow these two powerful Angels out of this place and the pitch dark that made his mind shiver.
Each angel places powerful hands on what would have been his shoulders if he had any and within an instant they are in another room. The room they entered appeared to Paul to resemble a courtroom. It was a large room with tables and a main podium that looked like a Judges bench. There were stacks of books on this podium.
Paul turned to glance at one Angel then the other trying to get some understanding of what was happening.
One angel motioned for Paul to move toward the main podium and bench, as he walked forward he noticed a table to his left which was to the right from the front of the main podium and on the front of this particular table was a large placard that read ADVOCATE.
Paul was made to step right in front of the main bench and another large angel came from behind it and sat down and began looking through the books. All the while Paul was perplexed as to what was going on.
The angel, appeared to Paul to be acting as a research because of the way he went through the books as if he was looking for something.
After what seemed like forever to Paul, the angel reached for yet another book which was different due only to its size as it was small compared to the others, and after going through all of its pages, which did not take long due it being smaller than the others, the angel spoke:
"Paul, you have been brought before this court to determine where you will spend eternity. I see from my research, that you have been weighed in the balance and found wanting, your name is in the BOOK OF LIFE, but I see no mention of your name anywhere in this book." Paul watched the angel hold up the smaller book.
The angel continued, "Paul usually you would have been appointed an ADVOCATE to speak in your behalf, but due to the evidence I have before me and the absence of your name in this book indicates that you appear to have an outstanding debt owed to the court ADVOCATE, so therefore, I will pass sentence since he will not be speaking on your behalf."
"I hereby condemn you to eternity in hell fire for the debt owed to the court".
Paul could not believe what he was hearing.
He desperately needed to plead is case before this majestic being.
"Sir, he said, I don't understand, I did what I thought was required, I offered up my head and went against Satan's system." At that moment 1Corinthians 13:3
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing
went through his mind, though I have not charity... Paul remembered from his study while alive 'charity' being the Divine Love of God called Agape.
He and Melanie had discussed it, and he remembered that the only way to obtain it was the ONE thing that caused friction and sometimes contention between him and Melanie, and that was the narrow way to bestowement of Agape love.
Paul had tried, he really did try at first. He did a word study on the word Love and read alot of material that others had written on the Strait Gate and Narrow Way, but was soon tired of the sameness and began to find it dull, that along with the time it required left him lukewarm. He stopped even trying after awhile.
Melanie would try to peak his interest by sharing what she had learned but he had soon begun to dread hearing her talk about it, and her efforts soon turned into what appeared to be nagging, she would even resort to pointing out the risk of eternal damnation if he did not continue, which sometimes caused and argument to ensue.
He knew deep down it was a gamble, but the odds had always been stacked in his favor all his life, so he passed up the priority of the search of the narrow way and decided he would just offer up his head on the other side thereby freeing up some more time for leisure and pursuing the things of the world and what he thought was important in regard to career advancement. After awhile Melanie didn't say much but he knew she was praying for him, which after awhile bothered him also.
"Paul! Paul!" his thoughts were summoned back to his present situation.
The two angels that had brought him into the court and seemed to hold a office of bailiff’s were by his side as the majestic angel on at podium said to him, "The bailiffs will escort you to the entrance of your eternal punishment."
Fear gripped Paul, a fear like none he had ever known, he began to cry, plead and bemoan, but was motioned to leave the room.
Right outside the door was another door with a placard that read ADVOCATE. Paul broke free of the bailiff angels and rushed through the door and into another room. The light in the room as he entered was blinding and did blind him momentarily, but his eyes adjusted, and he saw a throne, and he who sat on the throne. It was the most beautiful thing Paul had ever seen.
His hair was white like wool and snow, his eyes were as a flame of fire, his countenance was as the sun shineth.
Paul rushed as far as he was allowed to go. He fell down on his knees and then on his face, sobbing, begging and pleading with this person who by now Paul had determined was the LORD JESUS CHRIST to please hear him, to let him plead his case, his pleas went unheard as Jesus Christ looked straight at him and with eyes that were piercing and said these words:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Paul would remember those words "DEPART FROM ME.." a million upon a million times as he awaited his permanent destiny in the LAKE OF FIRE.
Then Jesus with a nod of his head motioned for the escorting angels to remove Paul from his presence, never allowing Paul to utter a sound of protest. Turning Paul noticed Jesus holding the LITTLE BOOK close to his breast and Paul was able to see something written on the book that he hadn't before. It read: LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE .
Paul no sooner left the room with his escorts when he noticed the dark now starting to envelop around him. The escorts stopped him and he found himself standing before another door.
His escorts informed him that he was to enter here and remain until his future location of the LAKE OF FIRE.
The door began to open. Paul immediately was aware of tremendous heat coming from behind the door, and screeching screams along with hideous laughter, he felt a push from behind and STARK TERROR filled his mind as the overpowering heat turned into flames and he was greeted by more angels that were hideous to look at and everything smelled like sulfur. His new escorts gleefully reached for him to pull him further inside but all Paul could think was ETERNITY, OH GOD! NOT ETERNITY, PLEASE GOD, PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME SPEND ETERNITY HERE
Melanie had read to him from a book that she had found that tried to describe how long eternity was.
"An Eskimo legend says that in Canada's far northern wastes in the midst of ice and snow stands an immense rock.
This rock is a cube a mile long; a mile wide, and a mile high. Once every 1000 years a small white bird flutters to the top of the rock and gently cleans its tiny bill. WHEN THE CUBE HAS BEEN WORN AWAY, ONE DAY OF ETERNITY WILL HAVE PASSED.
ETERNITY NEVER ENDS
