Re: Mark 5:34: How Much Faith Do We Need?
Alikat, I so appreciate your comments above. I just listened to Walter Martin's message on the errors of Positive Confession this weekend. It was much better than I anticipated and I urge you to listen sometime this month. Most interesting was Martin's experience of having a women with chronic nephritis come to him and request healing. She was scheduled to go on kidney dialysis the very next day. Martin, believing in God and seeking the gift of healing prayed for her. At that point he had never seen a miraculous healing and he said his faith felt as shaky as jello as he prayed for this woman.
By the grace of God, the woman was miraculously healed. Her medical doctor, a Jew, converted to Christianity after seeing this glorious miracle. Martin said how he believed this 'strengthened' his own faith and gave him great confidence.
The next person who came to him had leukemia. Martin said he prayed with 'great faith and confidence' that time--much more than the first time, and yet the person died.
Bottom line for him was that God works miracles according to his sovereign will, not based on the level of our faith or our 'positive confession'.
