Artemisia (wormwood) may do it to you. There are many varieties of artemisia. Some are known for their hallucinogenic qualities and A. absinthium is one of them. It was used in a liquor known as absinthe, which was very popular drink on the turn of the 20th century, especially in France. Due to its toxicity and addictivness, absinthe was outlawed in many countires in the beginning of 20th C, including the US.
