Chemical taste, need help please
I was diagnosed with mercury toxicity last year after a 3 year search to the answer to all my "mystery symptoms", which began in Nov. 2000. Not long after what was much like an intestional "virus" that lasted 3 mo's., (a bacteria was found in stool, but they weren't able to indentify). Not long after this, I lost my normal senses of taste and smell. (there were/are numerous other symtoms too). About one month after the onset of symtoms, I began to have a very pungent chemical taste that would come and go, and increase and decrease in intensity. I have never had the typical metal taste that some experience. Anyway, this seemed to resonate from the back of my throat, and not from my stomach, such as reflux. This taste is so hard to describe, other that it's like swallowing pungent rotten eggs mixed in perm solution and it hangs in the back of your throat and ferments. At times it becomes sickly sweet and varies also in intensity. There has also been times when it's very chemical that it navigates into my nasal cavities and becomes a smell, much like exaust fumes but MUCH stronger. It all seems to be triggered by foods, many many foods now, and have been elimination one by one over the past 4 years.
I have had some form or another of the taste daily now for the past 3 years. When the taste becomes very strong, my abdomen distends and I feel disoriented and lethargic, burning and dry eyes and dry mouth. I gain between 3-5 lbs. during the worst times of distention.
My amalgams were removed in March of last year.
I have had tons of tests and have seen upteen doctors, and "professionals", have been studied at the taste/smell ctr, at the U of P, and never have found the cause of this most distressing symptom. The panels remain stumped!
I am currently doing a bowel cleanse and finished the first round of a parasite cleanse. I have had results. I take no meds, rx or otc. Diet consists of skinless chicken breats, brocolli, cauli, broc sprouts, eggs, olive oil, celtic sea salt, yellow squash, 3 baby carrots daily, 2 brazil nuts daily, homemade almond milk only in herbal teas, blackcurrant, milk thistle, and peppermint. All foods are organic, eggs range free. Chicken is commercial, have no source here for other. Have just recently been able to supplement. I'm 5'9 and range btw. 110-114 lbs. My health is slowly on the decline.
