sensiblehealth coptis and chinese bitters

anyone know whether it's ok to take it in hot water - i can't tolerate even the alcohol smell so i put it in hot water to evaporate the alcohol which makes me want to vomit. i know it's not as effective, but am i still benefitting or wastin my time?
