Try your local library for books with Ayurvedic recipes. Or try a book store and look for "Ayurvedic Cooking For Self Healing" By Vasant Lad. In general, to make any grain or lentil dish tasty, try this - in a small crucible, heat some oil ( olive or sesame or sunflower or ghee), then add some dry mustard seeds, when the seeds splutter, reduce or remove from heat, add a pinch of asafoetida (hing), some cumin seeds, pinch of turmeric, pinch of red pepper powder. And then add this oil seasoning to your grains or lentils and mix. You can also add rock salt to the dish directly. I add some ghee and rock salt to barley - it tastes delicious. You can also add ghee and rock salt to oatmeal - make it watery. Add black raisins to make it more nutritious. When making vegetables, you can start with little oil, heat the oil, then add the above spice I mentioned and then cook your veggies in it till tender. This is the age-old way in which we cook in India and this is the only food we eat... veggies, grains, lentils, beans... with fruits and dairy.
