I totally hear you about everyone having a myts, etc. I also get that you want to do what you can while sticking to the plan you're on. Hopefully some of the stuff recommended here will help you do that.
There is a book called Fit for Life. It has some really interesting stuff in there, and explains the whole protein myth way better than I could. Your muscles do indeed metabolize protein, but any protein eaten has to be broken down first and proteins are the hardest things for your body to break down, and only then will the components be built up again to the protiens your muscles need to metabolize.
Anyway, I totally believe you about the steroids thing - that is very sad. And I don't know if I mentioned but I talk this great talk and eat like crap a lot of the time so I am the farthest thing from a perfect health nut you will ever meet.
But really - good luck with all that you can do for your liver given your parameters. I think you will loooovwe the Liver Flush
and it will give you wore energy. Also, some people have a hard time with milk thistle (aside from its yukky taste) so that is why dandelion is another option.
