Re: Can "yeast" infection be sexually tramsmitted?

I get one or two yeast infections per year and find that the OTC do work, but only quite temporarily.

I have tried garlic oil in capsules and it does make a slight difference, but that is completely negated (for me anyway) by the strong odor.
The best, by far, method for me is a fresh garlic clove inserted vaginally. When I first tried this (I read about it in Paul Pritchard's Healing with Whole Foods, which I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in natural health) I followed his advice of putting a cotton string through the clove for easy removal, but now I never bother. You sort of get the hang of getting it out without it. You need to leave it over night, change it daily, and do this for about a week. Longer for stubborn cases. He actually recommends about three weeks I think, from memory. The book said that garlic could be irritating, or burning for some people and if this is the case to leave the outer layers of the clove on, but I have never found this to be the case, for me anyway.

I have also tried probiotics, but they are expensive, and I have doubts about wether I am actually always getting living culture. I have never tried to make my own, which I think would be a much better option.

Hope this helps.
