But to actually relook at the core problem would show just how many blatantly wrong, stupid, greedy, and unconscionable decisions have been made along the way. In every field from politics to
Science to farming to marketing (and many others) the mess we're in now has been a series of one bad decision propping up another.
It's just so much easier and "cooler" to keep adding ducttape and toothpicks to shore up their house of cards than it is to make all the industries involved realize and admit they screwed up. It's Ego, Pride, and Greed (and the Power those three hold) that are the biggest stumbling blocks.
The big fat disgusting Emperor has no clothes, but no-one in his royal court will admit it.
In the fable, it took the honesty of a little child to state the obvious. WE must that little child. And, we must speak out as honestly, purely, and fearlessly as that child.
Organic farmers, holistic healers, grassroot politics, and other groups of concerned and INFORMED people can and are making a difference, but we can't stay small and insular. The inevitable time is fast approaching where their house of cards is going to fall and we must be there, structured, organized, and in sufficient quantities to help.
So your co-workers think you're "a little odd" when you mention it. What's wrong with being a little odd? Aren't we ALL different and unique? Just as in regaining and reclaiming our own personal health requires reading, research, and work, so does regaining and reclaiming the health of our societies and our planet.
So maybe we can't make them see the error of their ways by pointing them out. Then again, maybe we *can*, IF we have a good viable facesaving alternative in place. Although some people truly do choose to remain blind and others fear losing their power, many, many others are completely unaware of the damage, or are aware but feel helpless because they don't see any other way. It's up to us to BE the other way, to show that it *can* be different, that there *is* a way out. The best lead by example. We should all look into ourselves to see what examples we've chosen to be.
No infrastructure is built overnight. We have the cornerstones and foundations in place, now comes the even harder work of building an alternate structure.
