Please suggest help for vision loss!

I am very short-sighted and at 55, have experienced a sudden deterioration in my vision every year for the last four years.
This year there has also been a noticeable reduction in my night vision,which I find very alarming.
I am already taking Omega 3 fish oil supplements.
Has anyone improved their vision with supplements, similar to Owen's wonderful example?
Should I be taking bilberry for night sight improvement?
Please let me know if you have any experience of success with your vision, as I am a lone parent resposible for two teenagers, and my sight is infinitely precious to me.
