Dear pianoplayer It really does sound as if you overdosed on carbohydrates and were experiencing insulin ups and downs causing the very low blood sugar. If the carbohydrates you were eating were refined (i.e. white), along with preservatives , colours and other chemicals in the hot dogs and hamburger, I think that your body was magnificent to not make you ill for days on end. Unfortunately, as one gets older the body's ability to shrug off all the junk we put into it becomes less. The body becomes more sensitive as the overload in the liver builds up and the 'filter' can no longer work as effectively. It's good you found this site.
