Re: MY FIRST LIVER FLUSH - nothing happened?!?

Hi Everyone,
Do you all think the risk of gallbladder infection is overstated? I ask because it seems that docs try and scare gallbladder patients with the "if you don't have surgery, you may wind up with an awful infection!" I know gallbladders can become infected, but from my reading it seems that the following applies: 1)Most gallbladder infection is treated completely with IV Antibiotics if a patient is very ill, or if a patient doesn't have a high WBC count, even outpatient oral Antibiotics . 2)The people most likely to be hurt by these infections are usually ill, anyway: very elderly people, advanced diabetes, etc. I post this because my doc's office called with some test results and the nurse told my husband that I was risking infection if I didn't have it out. My husband asked the nurse what the chances of infection were, and how it would be treated. The nurse was mad, but she talked to the doc who called back and said that it usually wasn't that big of a deal IF a person was healthy and got treatment promptly. So, I'm in pain nearly every day as I work through this thing, and hoping to avoid the aforementioned infection! Anyone here had gallbladder infection?
