Plagued with COLDSORES!

I have had the cold sore virus for most of my life, and for the most part i would be inflicted once or twice a year, hardly a huge inconvenience....but for the past 6-8 months i have been getting cold sores just before my menstruation. its like clockwork, every month, and it is really starting to bother me. can anyone help me try to prevent this from continually happening, and/or help me find a relatively quick cure to zap the sores when they do appear? cheers.
