Re: Day five...when does it get better?
What juices are you drinking? How much and how often? How was your health before you started? Were you a heavy coffee drinker? Sometimes, when you detox from coffee, you get symptoms like sleeplessness, racing heart, etc. If it is a detox symptom, it should pass within a day or so.
Racing heart and weakness can be a symptom of sodium/potassium imbalance. Are you drinking a variety of juices or focusing on specific fruits or veggies? In general, varying the foods you juice is more likely to provide a balanced nutrient profile.
Another possibility is a blood
Sugar issue. Juices from fruits and root veggies (such as carrot and beet) are high in natural sugars. These should be diluted, not drunk straight. I avoid 100% fruit juices, prefering to eat the whole fruits to get the valuable fiber. Add carrot or beet to an "above ground" veggie juice, to dilute the
Sugar content. Mix an apple or a lemon into veggie juices to balance the flavor or add a bit of sweetness to a "green" juice.
There are a number of websites with juice recipes. Look for recipes using foods you aren't already juicing. Focus on
juicing foods you don't like to eat, so you can compensate for nutrients that may be low in your normal diet. The raw juice has a completely different flavor from the cooked veggie.
I have found that broccoli juice is surprisingly sweet and wonderful mixed with 1/2 apple. I trim the base of the stem and juice the stem, leaves and florets. Red cabbage is also good, though it can cause burping or gas in people with sensitive digestion. Kale juice is better than spinach. It is a powerhouse of minerals and mixed with apple and a piece of ginger, it is very tasty. Add spring herbs if you can afford them.
