Re: gum infection

i work in dentistry so i have to butt in on this one. gum infections are rarely caused by grinding of the teeth and wearing a splint. gum infections are caused by a lack of hygiene (or in some cases, prescribed medications). i see it every day. regular and effiecient brushing and flossing should keep the teeth free of decay and the gums tight and healthy. if everyone could take good care of their mouths we wouldn't have to worry about amalgam fillings or root canals, etc, would we?
