Glad you got the message. E-mail anytime. I couldn't believe it when I saw you were in Livonia, and I have to say you are REALLY lucky to live where you do - there is an amazing alternative health community here. Just FYI, the initial cost up front on the chiropractic is a couple hundred bucks because she takes X-Rays, but there is very little maintenane in terms of going back a lot. She's all about getting people "doctor-free, including me." I believe she will also occasionally work with people on a payment plan if they can't manage it up front.
I've still got bowel issues, myself, I think it's been life-long. There are inexpensive things you can do, I'm not sure how much you've tried or what you're familiar with. A tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar (Braggs or Eden brand) in a glass of warm water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach is a good way to alkalize, add healthy flora, and I think is good also for cleansing.
A really great book is the Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates. It's all about rebalancing the intestinal flora, food combining, etc. Eating plenty of raw veggies, very little cooked food and very little meat, and NO processed food is a good start. I also can't emphasize enough the importance of pro-biotics if you're working on bowel issues, preferably getting most of it from food in the form of kefir or lacto-fermented vegetables. With every meal, every day. I make my own - it's cheap and easy to make kefir, and I can even give you the starter cultures if you want. The vegetables are a little more involved, but also inexpensive. Very healing for the gut and will help you absorb minerals. I-Flora by Sedona labs is also a great brand of bottled acidophilus, you can do a google search for a best price if you want to order it.
You might also want to surf the ASK MH forum here, he has some interesting info, and I think his herbal products are really superior. I'm on the De-Wormer with a fiber product I bought at the health food store, some aloe caps, and a laxative tea at night that I may or may not need, but I wanted to be sure... I'm getting larger and more frequent eliminations than I've ever had in my life, and I think it's largely due to the de-wormer. I did fiber products and all kinds of things for several years before that, but never saw the mucoid plaque "ropes" until I took the de-wormer along with it. He's also a big advocate of fasting to cure all kinds of things, which is about as inexpensive as it gets, and I am working up my courage to try that this spring/summer. I don't think it's for everyone, and in your case might need to be supervised.
Oh, and have you done any liver/gallbladder flushes? Also very important foundational step in cleansing. Took me a year and a half to get over my fears about doing that, and I'm sorry I waited so long. I've done 8 or 9 of them, and I've gotten out tons of stones and toxic bile that were blocking the ducts. Very important if you have any digestive issues.
Anyway, I was sick for years and I'm still have a ways to go, but I learned a lot on this forum and met all the right people around here.
Sorry if I'm preaching to the choir. Good luck in your efforts back toward good health. You will get there!
