That's the rub. Unless you are very lucky, or live in a very large city, it may be very difficult to find an appropriate medical practioner. I think my first choice would be a licensed MD practicing holistic medine. That's right, a MD who uses his brain, and doesn't just practice "cook book" medicine.
On the other hand, let's be fair. Many state medical licensing boards take a very dim view of MD's practicing anything other than straight up and down allopathic medine. Many insurance companies will "delist" a medical practice that strays too far from "the standard of practice" path. In my state, it actually against the law for MD's to practice alternative medicine.
The state of modern medicine is only as good as the MD who is treating you. So, if you manage to find a MD practicing holistic medicine, hopefully he is very good at his profession.
The best advise is to never become chronically ill. MD's can handle a broken arm or tear out a gall bladder just fine. I've even had a MD admit to me that modern medicine is very poor at dealing with the chronically ill.
