I know the feeling. It took many months for my mouth to calm down a bit in this respect. Even after this time, there is still quite a bit of hot & cold sensitivity, just not nearly as bad as it was in the immediate aftermath of having 14 Amalgams - several quite deep, removed. Despite this, I'm still happy with this decision.... in a peace of mind kinda of way.

It seems logical that the less work required to do the cleanup (IE> fewer amalgams, especially fewer shallow Amalgams compared to many deep amalgams) the better the chances that this after-effects, like sensitivity, will be less in the long term, but there is usually a short term period to get through while the teeth/mouth/jaw are recovering.
