PLEASE help diagnose / What is going around?

PLEASE help diagnose at least loosely please. I have been sick for a few weeks with what started as a cold/chest cold. Progressively, it has gotten worse, even after being on Antibiotics for five days (out of seven). It is mainly now a cough, brochospasm, phlegm (phlegm is still clear; has been mainly cough for 2 weeks). My cough is a seal-like cough (like whooping, very deep and guttoral, rolling/barking). Nothing is working, and I've been to a doctor twice in two weeks (not a full work-up done). With two days left on Antibiotics (moxifloxacin) I am pretty sure this remedy is not working. I have gotten worse over the last two days.

Any ideas? And please supply any sites you know of that help determine what is currently "going around" as I personally know of 7 people from around the country with the same illness (or very very similar). I would like a little guidance before my next doctor visit just for my own satisfaction.

Any remedy ideas too. I have tried turmeric in soy milk (I don't do dairy) with little effect. Lots of steam. Menthol. Peppermint oil.
