Re:
Hi,
It's normal that we try to help each other because this condition is very unknown. And although it's not dangerous, it's sometimes very painful. In my case, the mind does't change the condition. It's a non stop condition, and my mind wasn't always sad during these years.
1. How did you find your dentist? Was it a local dentist or a specialized natural dentist?
It's a local dentist, but he works very well, and he is very comprehensive.
2. What is the white composite made of? I hear people who get their teeth filled with plastic...some people react badly to this plastic filling.
I don't know the composition. It hardens with a specific kind of rays, maybe it was UV-rays.(the light appears blue) It's a little more expensive than metal fillings, but in France, we have the chance to have a good social protection. I heard that the longevity of this plastic is sometimes shorter than metal fillings. And it's sometimes more difficult for the dentist to apply this plastic, especially on wide areas.
I have also heard some rumours about plastic but also a lot about
Amalgam fillings (especially on the web). It's hard to know the truth. It's possible that everybody doesn't react exactly the same way to these materials. Moreover, it's a big industry, there is a lobby...
3. Are you glad you got your mercury filliings removed?
Well, I hope that my cheilitis would end, but there is no improvement. I have read (on the web) that
Amalgam fillings were the cause of cheilitis for some people. That's why I wanted to try. My dentist told me that it could take some time to see an improvement.
The big mistake is mostly to apply steroid ointment (that's the first thing that derms suggest, when they have suggestions...) because it extends the peeling area...
The mercury fillings substitution rather seems to be at this time a waste of time, for the dentist also... But after 9 years of suffering, I wanted to try everything. It's so hard to have a normal life with this condition.
Now (since 2 weeks), I try to brush my teeth with only water. It doesn't seem to help at this time.
I hope my english was understandable.
Good luck !
