Re: parasite immunity

Hello.

Re: [question: I was wondering-can a properly functioning immune system prevent and stop parasite infections?]

"In some cases, YES." Could you please give me some examples?

My pleasure:

Some protozoal infections "seem" to be stopped by a good working immune system, according to the literature. Sometimes they're referred to as "self-limiting". See Cryptosporidium parvum, for example:

http://www.rrsd.org/crypto.htm
http://biology.kenyon.edu/slonc/bio38/hannahs/crypto.htm

There is also evidence of apparent "immunization" in different cases of helminths, bacteria and fungi, well documented in the literature.
