google old-fashioned gingerbread, or fresh gingerbread, until you find one that calls for a lot of mollasses.
Make sure to use the best-->>Blackstrap, unsulphered...

Really good gingerbread uses fresh grated ginger (and maybe some hot (like "Keen's" mustard.)
