Diabetes is connected to leaky gut at some levels so the assumption might not be too far off.
I've found olive leaf extract to be the most preferred antifungal that also heals the intestinal lining at the same time, it's incredibly efficient, Grapefruit-Seed-Extract might irritate the lining and therefore can't be taken in larger effective doses.
Hot spices are to be avoided as dairy, eggs and baking soda too.
For gut-aiding nutrients/supps i would suggest onions, garlic, digestive enzymes, leek, essential fats (omega-3) and amino acids.
